Disconnecting Fuel Lines

I need some serious help/advice. I'm getting beat up by these fuel lines even with the proper tools. They will not disconnect for nothing. Anyone have any idea? These are on my 1996 Bronco that I'm changing the fuel pump on. None of the connectors want to separate/disconnect.
So much for the 'Quick Disconnect' tools. I've tried the plastic versions and gve those back to "Suck'Reily Auto" and got a metal scissor type one at Pepboys. Neither works. I'm frustrated! I've tried both fittings that need to come off at the tank and also the two fittings at the fuel filter. Not a single one will budge.

I always used hose pliers with great success, and they're only around $2 at Harbor Freight (not sure if this is what you meant by "metal scissor type" or not)

DIY I found it shows the guy using the same tool with the 5/16" end but I'm having no luck.

I was changing the fuel filter on my Ranger and yes those Quick Disconnect thingy suck, after 20 mins going at it finally the fuel lines popped out.

You must have done something right. I was at it for over an hour with the plastic ones then with the metal one I was trying for like 20 min and gave up.

Got the lines off! Thanks to Don for letting me borrow his set of tools. They work! Not like the cheap ones I bought.

the O'reily parts worked great for me. I guess I got lucky when I replaced the fuel filter in my Explorer.
