nice. Pretty pristine. Hard to imagine doing that with such a (let's be honest) ho-hum car. Be like buying a Corolla S today and putting it away for 25 years... then finding out how it magically became an iconic car due to a television show.

That's literally the dumbest thing I have seen in a long while. Almost as bad as those guts who bought C4 vetoes and put them on jack stands thinking they were going to skyrocket in value....

What's so special about it? I'd say the owner had to be kind of "special" to store a Corolla for 20+ years. Fanbois sure are a funny lot.

I don't care about the car much, but for someone to buy a car and keep it this perfect for 25+ years is admirable. I don't have anything old that looks new.

the ae86 is japan's pride in the automotive world. imo the best car ive ever driven having owned one a while back.

IMO... The AE86 is the US's idea of Japan's pride in the Auto world. Certainly not the best car most people have ever driven... maybe in it's day. Otherwise it's the result of too much Initial D. Not saying I wouldn't want one, but nobody would know what it was without Initial D and it's pedestal presentation of that car. In the non-cartoon world, it's easily surpassed.

it is and also a proven fact. the ae86 was pretty much the only car toyota then that competed in the Group A and N races as well as rally. there's also the starlet but that car didnt really do soo well. im not gonna go too deep into it.

i hate how initial d usually ruins everything about this car. fanboy and fanboy haters alike. love the car for its real reputation not by a cartoon that displays fictionary tales of cars driving through a gutter. if you believe shit like that then you belong with the fanboys.

Indeed. Regardless of anything else, it has a cult following just like RX-7s, Supras or whatever else. It may be loved by fanboys, but so are STIs and EVOs, yet they get respect.

I also think it's admirable that this person had the willpower to not drive a car they obviously loved. It would have been very tough for me, especially for 25 years haha.

yea i talk shit about evo's and sti's from time to time but i dont really hate the car. i hate the fanboy drivers that drive them.

but that ae86 is pretty hard to come by. the 4age usually came in the trueno gts. you rarely see them in levin, more so in a sr5. if it did come in an sr5 it wouldve been the carbed single cam 4ac. i do appreciate rare/odd cars and the owners who keep them in very good condition

The 4age is a direct copy of the cosworth bda engine, so no points awarded there.

The ae86 is nothing special at all, ifnyou want to look for "Japans pride" in a car, look to the 510 Datsun which actually raced in this country in one of the highest levels of motorsports, Trans-Am. It was also IRS, had better suspension, and looked a grip better. Moving forward, it can be argued that there has not been a car that could be called "Japans pride" simply due to the fact that individual tuners specialize rather than cover a broad range.

I do not care for Toyota, they have no real talent for motorsports and do nothing in house. The JZ and 3S engine families were designed and developed by Yamaha, not Toyota, and even the coming Scion roadster is Subaru powered because Toyota=fail in the power train department, but they are good at writing checks.

Storing a car like that is nuts, even if he is an enthusiast, he has never enjoyed it and the car has never done what it was meant to do. Literally, fail on a truly epic scale.

It's a tragic shame to have stored that car and not enjoyed driving it. For what? A shame to do that for any car, even a Ferraraghinizondegg. Like keeping a beautiful painting wrapped up in the attic.

I hope they bought two and drove the hell out of the other one, or I has a sad.
