I've heard this from a friend that's an Audi owner, but I thought it was kooky talk, and I still do think it's kooky talk. I won't let someone tell me I shouldn't get a certain car because it's for teenage boys or women over 40. Gimme a break haha.

Yea, my parents used to think Subarus were only for gay and lesbian people and actually questioned us when we got an Impreza for my wife, lol. I don't know where people get these stereotypes from.

lol hilarious, i don't know a single gay or lesbian who owns a subaru, almost every lesbian i've met drives a truck or jeep, (that's who i call when i need help moving or need something fixed)

Lotsa' military people with subies for sure...

And my favorite true stereotype: Driving an old Cadillac? Must be a thug or a granny for sure :)

Dunno. I've always heard the Forester is the national lesbian car. My sister-if-there-was-a-law (sister in law's partner) drives an Outback.

I think the gay/lesbian Subaru stereotype was from before the WRX and STi became so popular too.

sorry to hear about your car. I just found the forum a few days ago and was trying to get a feel for the people, places, and events that happen here. Seems like I rad quite a few of your treads right off the bat.

I recently bought my 2005 Mazda3 hatch and in the process of looking, I considered the VW GTI/Rabbit/Golf, Protege 5, Subaru Impreza Wagon, Audi A3 and A4, and Volve V40. I orignally wasn't cnsidering the 3, but it ended up working out the best for me. Now I want to do a lot of interior work to it since the previous owner didn't take the best care of it. It works well now, but I waned something to play with and customize anyway. I doubt I would do anything to those other cars except maybe the GTi). I guess I say all of this in the interest of saying I have driven a lot of those cars recently, and really couldn't find anything wrong with any of them, it all depends on what fits you the best.

I tried to PM you but I don't have that ability yet...need to post more I am guessing.

Good luck with car shopping and your potential transfer.

You guys are crazy, I would take a Forester XT turbo in a heart beat. Drop in a used STI turbo and turbo back exhaust, Cobb AP with a tune, used STI top mount intercooler, larger injectors and STI fuel pump and you're running quicker than an STI for chump change.

One of our friends here in town says only hippies drive Subarus HAHA. I would like an STI and as you all know, I am NO hippie HAHA.
