• Mazda6 (09-10) Recall

Recalling Mazda6 cars from the 2009-2010 model years, built between April 2008 and February 2010.

Yellow spiders are makin' babies in the evaporative canister vent line. Really.

The solution Mazda is pursuing does seem a bit weird to me though: Recalling a bunch of cars to install a valve to keep the spiders out. The only way that would help is if they are taking up residency *after* the car is delivered. I could be wrong, but I can't see a spider moving into a line with a toxic (gas fumes) environment. It probably happened at the factory while the parts were in stock. My solution would be recall, and just replace the line with a known clean one.
I guess Mazda can pay more to install a valve if they want too...just seemed like overkill to me.

my sister-in-law has a jetta, and each side has a spider web covering each side-view mirror, when I pointed it out she said "I clean them off all of the time but the spiders rebuild them, they live/hide right behind the mirror"

once my brother and me were picking up an MX-3 in florida that had been sitting a couple of years, it had a full ant-nest living in the trunk, i don't blame them...

Haha reminds me of when there were wasps aleays arond my brothers expedition. In each of his side mirrors there were wasps nests. There is a lot of space behind those mirrors.
