For those of you that don't know, my motor seized about 2 months ago and Mazda NA denied warranty coverage. SO, I'm going to be doing a built bottom end w/ forged internals. So far here's my parts list:

I've already found places to do the head work and machine work thanks to my cousin who professionally builds drag motors (he has a 10 second small block camaro). So now its just a matter of money to make it all happen.

I'll try and get pictures of updates, but its going to be hard not having any transportation to get anywhere, but I'll do my best.

There's a few other things too that i'm going to be looking into getting, such as:

Upgraded Injector seals
Upgraded High pressure relief valve for fuel rail
Exhaust mani (not sure which one yet, but have it limited down to a couple)
Then we'll see about turbo, in top mount form, and a fmic.

Post up any questions, concerns, ideas that you have. I'm open to hear them.

No its not my car...but thats a GT3076, so as the owner of the car said...plenty of room for a GT35r. I'm not sure what turbo I go with, but in all honesty thats later down the road.

Will you have the motor blueprinted and balanced?

Is there even an engine in those second set of pictures?!

Yeah i will. I'm taking no chances w/ this haha. Plus its really not that much to have it done.

Thanks Tim! And yes its in there somewhere haha. That guy is gunna end up using a Borgwarner thats basically a GT4088...so WAY bigger than anything I'll be doing.

As far as turbo sizing, what kind of power are you looking for?

450 awhp. Been done on a GT3076 on our platform. Might be safe and look at a GT35. Dunno yet tho, too far off.

I'm both not envious and envious at the same time. That being said, I sure hope my car comes back with clean bill of health!

Get the turbo that gives you the best response but still makes the power you want.

I would look at the new line of billet turbos, for the power you're after you can run a Garrett GTX3076R billet or a Presicion 5557 billet with dual ball bearing CHRA's and get excellent spool but even more top end because of the efficiency of the billet wheel.

Compared to the non billet GT3076R:



As you can see, it flows much, much more. And, also pretty obviously pointed out in the map is the higher the boost, the better the efficiency. I mean you can flow 65lbs/min of air at a PR of 3.25! Win/win

yeah imm fully aware of the new ones hehe. i'm just not there yet to be deffiniative of a turbo.

I would get another car, but can't afford to. And since I have to rebuild the motor anyways, its kinda to the point of no return. And yes its a lot of money, but I appreciate the fact that no one on the roads really knows what this car is, let alone one with that much power. It'll be quick enough to put to shame the majority of people on the roads, plus has the amenities that make it a nice car.

With boost coming on much later than the stock snail, it should make for a fairly decent daily driver as well. After I'm done, all the fail with this car will be fixed/replaced with appropriate parts. Plus I actually do really like the car.


Besides...I HATE quiting. Looks like I will be the only one in Colorado that won't give up on this platform haha.
