Pro Tuner Coming to CO - Anyone Interested?

Postby Stealth01 » Tue Oct 05, 2010 9:14

I got a PM from John@TheShop in Connecticut today on msf.org. John does a kickass job tuning the Mazdaspeed platforms (MS6, MS3, and MS3 Gen2), and he's coming to CO to do tuning the second week in November. This guy's had some great results, and you can see some of his work (on other cars too) at the links down below.

This is what he sent me:
Hey!

Over the past for few weeks I've been e-mailing, PM'ing, txting and talking to you guys on the phone.

We're just about a month away from my trip starting and we need to get organized.

I know there's at least two people I spoke to that have access to dynos.

I understand not everyone wants to go on the dyno, but if the dyno is located in central location to everyone it could be a good spot to meet up.

In order for me to figure out all of this out I need some information...again Image

1. Name
2. Year, Model
3. EcuTek, or Cobb Accessport (2010 cars is EcuTek only)
4. Mods (If you have a upgraded turbo, what kind?)
5. Zipcode

Thanks

John
(Note: I don't think the dynos are necessarily in CO, as this was sent to folks all over the place...)

So...anyone interested in getting a pro-tune from this guy? If so, post up and I'll get back to him with numbers. As you can see above, he uses Cobb AP or ECUTek for his tuning.

Let me know!

Yeah, unfortunately, he doesn't do CPE Standback. Just Cobb AP and ECUTEK for Mazda. He's looking for 4-5 people, and I'd hate to see his trip to CO wasted...

Probably get more interest if folks knew how much it was gonna cost roughly.

Sorry, Egnolig, he doesn't do the RX-8 yet. I asked specifically.

And he isn't sure WHERE this will be, as he's trying to make it somewhere convenient for whomever is interested. Still working on cost.

I might be interested if I can get a better sense of cost. I've been thinking of doing a DP and this would be a good chance to make sure I don't blow up my car in the process.

OK, so far then, depending on cost, we have:

1. Reconbygod
2. Justin

I'll keep adding names as people express their interest. And as soon as John gets back to me with a ballpark cost, I'll post it uP!

I have updated the original post with the prices, from John himself. I've never checked out the local tuner scene, so I don't know how these compare, but I know John is a VERY good tuner. Been around awhile, and has done some very good work.

Is it really that much more than MAC or SupuRuPair are charging?

Also, I haven't asked him if it makes a difference whether or not you dyno...
