Postby rmeeker13 » Thu Jun 03, 2010 9:14

Two powertrain codes...both for the primary O2 sensor...its shot so looks like ill be dropping like 250 for a new one.

The car is punishing me for wanting to get rid of er!
Its all good tho because i found the B5 i want and its 450hp the way it sits so ill be hunting down all the speed cars and handing out some *** whipings!:D

Never use the word "luck" when referring to an Audi.

BMW M3... hands down. I've been driving one for the last two days and love it. You can pull some power out of them too. That or an Audi that still has a warranty on it. Example: A3 1.8T (sexxy)

With your luck, you should probably go for a BMW though. The engines can take a lot of abuse. The one I'm driving has almost 200k on it and the engine runs fine. It's been autocrossed, tracked and taken to the drag strip. It may be difficult for you to go from a turbo powered car to a non turboed car but less complication means less stuff that can break. The throttle response is ridiculous and the rear wheel drive aspect is a shit ton of fun. Parts are relatively cheap on the '95 and up platforms and you can find a lot of used bits and pieces. Best part is if you get into an accident, chances are your local pull and pay will have a bumper or the parts that you need to fix it.

You could also go for a Mark4 VW R32, also a nice platform with a semblance of reliability. Less so than the BMW but more than your Mazda. Watch out though because any maintenance will be stupid expensive (timing belt, water pump etc).

If you want to keep with AWD, check out an Evo 9 SE or MR. The MR is the super fast version :). Very nice cars, insurance is higher but also a lot of fun. You can tune it correctly for a bit more money, but watch out for the tickets. They are cop magnets.

The BMW M3, VW R32 and Evo all have well developed tuning and parts people. None of the issues many of you have faced with problems with maps or lack of parts etc. More performance shops are willing to work on them as well because they are so well known.

Hope that helped! I mean, don't get me wrong, I'd love to have a Nagaro Blue Stage 3 S4... but I don't make nearly enough money or have the children required for blood sacrifices :)

Thanks for the input. I wanted an M3 E46 about a year ago but saw how much it would be to turbo it and lost interest. VW R32...is that the hatch? If so...never in my life will i ever own a hatch! Evo's are ok...i'd get an older one like a 5. Or and 02 STI but id rather get something more luxury like a bmw, audi, lexus...my taste has changed a bit.

You and I have spoken about the B5. I have owned two, both over 500hp and more reliable than any car I have ever owned hands down. The majority of issues people have is due to them buying low quality parts to *save money* as opposed to buying quality components that cost a bit more, but take serious abuse and last.

The 2.7 is proven to be one of the most reliable engines ever made when subjected to serious horse power. The 1.8t, and the 2.0t always had problems. The 2.8 did too. They gave a bad rap to all Audi motors.

The companies I spoke of when we were e-mailing will back this up with a simple phone call to them. The 2.7 can handle 700hp.

30-140mph is a blink of an eye ;-)

I have friends that do performance work and they hate Audi's... especially B5 S4s. But everyone has different tastes.
