Nice! I'm hoping to get an AP and a tune next month or possibly February depending on how quick I can get the other mods installed.

Nice pickup O-guy. I wanted to buy that too, but I actually was snoozing. Oh well... Next time.
If you don't have a custom tune done with one of those things, can you just tell it (in plain terms) what mods you have, and let it do a basic adjustment/tune?

No, its not that easy, unfortunately. I would definitely recommend a professional do any kind of tuning. We just raised the boost, and uploaded an OTS map for now.

That's kinda was I was expecting and part of the reason I didn't pursue buying it. It's one of those "spend money for the item" and then "spend money to use it" things.
My displeasure with MAC at the time, didn't help the situation, either. Haha...
Either way though... Reading results like this, makes the wheels start turning again!

i guarantee he gained around 50whp just by upping the boost, and pulling a bit of timing.. its an expensive boost controller at this point, but you definitely feel the gains right away, tuned or not... 50whp for $500 is GOLDEN... and the potential to get a good 30whp more out of a tune will only sweeten the deal..

Yeah you could feel it instantly when i was on my way home i dropped to third and hammered the pedal and the car pulled so hard i almost got a wedgie. haha but yeah around Christmas time i think i will shoot nick at mac an email and see what he will charge for a tune. but i think if you start dealing with mac again you should try to talk directly to nick hes way cooler than bill and the others there

So when you to go the +80hp level of tune like that, how exactly are you affecting driveability and "surviveability" of the actual car?
I mean it does sound like an impressive gain, no doubt. And I'll make the assumption that the person behind the wheel isn't going to be driving fullbore at every possible stoplight... But when you do give it the whip, and do some spirited driving, is there substantial amount of strain that gets put on the engine, or the turbo, or the transmission or any other part of the car, essential to daily function?
I'm just curious how close a +80hp tune is to the razor's edge of parts-reliability, or if it's considered mild/reasonable. And if so, how much exactly can you crank these cars up (with mostly stock parts), before shit starts breaking?

Not hurting anything. "Maybe" shortening the snails life, but other than that, the motor & driveline have no problem with the extra tq & hp at those levels.
Granted, anything is possible, you can hurt a motor with much minor changes than adding/pulling timing and upping boost.
