ya man this isnt fun lol, ive been reading some people been swapping the 2.5 v6 from the 626 in with little trouble, and if thats the case then ill end up turboing that because they can at least take 6 psi and run smoothly.

Just put a GM LS1 out of a vet in it! There's a 93ish style rx-7 around that has a LS1 in it! If it works in a rx-7, why not a protege!? Dought it would fit tho!

The Protege engine bay is far smaller and the biggest reason is the Protege isn't rear-wheel drive, so fabricating all the components to make it rear-wheel drive would cost a metric shit ton.
Good luck man, I've seen a lot of these cars blow their motors!

I also missed this the original post.
Well belated welcome to the ZOOM ZOOM BOOM Club.

My engine was blown back in 2007, 3 out of the 4 rods thru the block. I was fortunate to get an insurance settlement (long story) to cover the cost of rebuilding. Replaced with a brand new forged block and internals from StreetUnit.com. The whole thing took 14 months to finally get my Ride back on the Road. The majority of the time was fighting with the local Performance Shop and insurance company. At the time I was crushed but now its just a mere memory. Time heals all wounds.
I got 3,500 miles on the forged engine and now looking to move forward with upgrading the performance later this summer. My timing might not be right with your current build but I'll be replacing alot of components to accommodate by next build.
Best of Luck with the Rebuild and Rising from the Ashes.
Looking forward to the pics and hearing more about your plans.

ya, the only plan right now is getting it running again lol. I just got home and got the parts except im still waiting on a couple things from
http://www.protegegarage.com, and after i get those its smooth sailing. Got as much swapped over as i could today, still at a stand still until the other items get here, I have the clutch kit, water pump, timing belt, gasket set, just waiting on the main bearing support plate and wastegate actuator. Will just be happy to be back on the road. i dont think i have any plans for this car after that terrible experience, on stock boost, going blammy. probably just keep for a daily driver and get a speed 6 or 3 lol.

Anyway here are pics starting to get what i can swapped, without the bearing plate not much i can do, monday ill be pulling the motor, and hopefully my parts will be here. so far i have the coolant lines swapped and am debating on using the 626 single runner intake manifold just not quit sure how to make that work yet. but ya progress finally
