So on my way to Boulder yesterday, @ around 11 AM, I get a huge rock from a dump truck, right in the middle of the windshield. I wasn't even behind it!

Luckily I had the GPS... I (no hands) called the insurance, pulled into the Safelite place and pow! Fixed!

I thought for sure the star was going to creep as soon as it started to drizzle.

Fixed. It never spread. I did get the info., but I guess my insurance company can't do anything unless I have video evidence of the mishap!

Anyone know where I can get the equipment to install a video monitoring (spy-like) system into the 5?

Call AvTech in Wheat Ridge. My friend Nick works there. They outfit police cars. If they can't get you the stuff, they can point you in the right direction I'm sure.

sometimes trucks have numbers on the rear that say "hows my driving" or just a random 800number. If it happens , call that number, get the license plate of the truck and theyll replace or send you a check...this also works if you want to be dishonest and get an already cracked windshield or headlight replaced.

A friend back home had part of this front bumper cracked in and bent...called up on the trucking companies 800numbers gave a license plate number and sent in pics of the damage and got a pretty tasty check in the mail.
