Lost a key...

So, Laura managed to lose her keys this week.
Light searching reveals that programming a new key is only possible if one is already in possession of two programmed keys, and the only solution is to have ECU reprogrammed.
Can someone verify this?

No idea on how these things work, but good luck.

if you have 1 or none you need to have a dealer program the new key. if you have 2 or more you can cycle the keys and do it yourself. what year and model is it?

You usually need 1 key.

If you only have one key you will need a dealer to hook it up to their big computer machine thingy. It's the only way.
If you have 2 you can DIY. I assume that you got 2 keys + a grey vallet key when you got the car?

You may be able to by a second key and find the DIY instructions somewhere. I know the Saab community buys a second key off the web, and do it cheaper than a dealer.

The key is $25.40 plus tax. We charge $75.00 to program if we have to plug in to the PCM with the WDS(Big machine Thingy).

I don't recall receiving a valet key, but It's been a while. Does the valet key work in the reprogramming rain dance?

I don't think this will work. You need 2 keys that are aleady programmed. At least I think.
The FCC id's really don't have much to do with anything. My flip key I got and programmed went just fine and it's a whole different FCC #.

I don't see why it shouldn't work. I know of a few people that never got a valet key. I was given one though. Never used it but it only works for the ignition and door. Will not unlock the glovebox, trunk, or trunk access door between the seats.
