Mazda Cx-9 Wins Motor Trend's Suv Of The Year

That's right, yet another Mazda to win an award, this time it's the CX-9 winning Motor Trend's SUV of the year. I've driven several CX-9's, and to me it's honestly no surprise, as the CX-9 doesn't feel anything like your traditional SUV, it actually drives more like a car with extra storage space and seating lol. I have to agree with arctic on the CX-9. I drive my wife's from time to time, and here's something amazing for you:

I can do a U-turn in a smaller space with her 9 than I can with my 6!

We've driven it through HEAVY rainfall with DEEP puddles and had NO hydroplaning. It has decent giddyup for a large SUV, and that 3.5L is SMOOTH.

Overall, it's a very nice SUV and IMHO, well-deserving of the award.

we test dove a cx-9 a while back, very pretty, loved the turning radius. Our only complaint was the interior space
in the front row. I felt cramped in the driver's/passenger seats, not much legroom and I am only 5' 10" not a big guy.

The front compartment is a little cramped side-to-side. Vertically, it's great. But there isn't much room horizontally.

I wasn't clear, but yes I meant the horizontal aspect, vertical was not an issue for me.

I think it was Motortrend that called the front seats "too comparmentalized," and I think that's a perfect description. It's like separate areas for each side.

But it's such a minor complaint it's not worth mentioning. The 9 is a VERY nice crossover. I wish we'd get some snow so I could test it out....
