its not backing out. Thats normal. My guess is i have no idea... but from the pictures thats normal. I thought you meant it was backing out from the shifter itself then yes that'd be bad.

I had the same issue (just with reverse) after installing the TWM short shifter, it only gave me trouble for about a day then the problem somehow went away on its own. Sorry to hear about your problem, looking forward to hearing what Cobb has to say....

The gap I see there looks to be about the same as my TWM....but I've had no problems. Have you tried moving it while exposed to see how the linkage reacts? Perhaps it's pulling out further than in the pics?

I figured out what the problem was, and it has nothing to do with the tranny or the SS. The part in question is in fact exactly how it should be. I will tell you all what the actual problem was once i resolve it.... lets just say its something none of you would have thought to the culprit.

Nope. It actually has nothing to do with the tranny or tranny part. It only lead to the lockout problem.

so what was it?
exhaust?
rear sway bar?
alignment?
steering wheel audio controls?
your "lense" get caught in the linkage again?

Today has been an extremely frustrating day. First this problem with the SS, and then i get a call from Tirerack saying that i may not have made the "cutoff" for getting the RE-01R's, but that's another rant.

So what was the problem with my shifter locking me out of the upper pattern today you ask? Something extremely stupid. I was on the phone with Cobb and he told me that often this problem results from something blocking the shift weight in the engine bay, so he asks if a have a CAI. I tell him i don't and i have their (Cobbs) short ram. But i said give me a sec and i will check out the bay anyhow.... So i open the hood and the first sentence out of my mouth is, "what the ****!" So the Cobb guy says is something wrong... yes something is certainly wrong, my damn filter to the short ram has somehow fallen off and is not wedged between the shift weight and the frame of the car . Thus preventing the gear linkages to move in the direction of the upper pattern gears.

I am dumbfounded as to how the freaking filter fell off. It had to have fallen off after i got back from the mountains and parked the car yesterday. At least i hope that is when it happened, i really don't want to know if i was driving around without the filter on. And to top it off, i brought my socket set home last weekend, so i currently have no way of getting the filter back on. I obviously will not drive the car until its back on and secure, but i hate the fact that its even sitting there without the filter . I am also now worried that filter will fall off again. I don't understand how it happened. The originial filter was on the intake for over a year and never onced moved. Then i buy a new filter (i'm lazy) and this one falls off after a little more than a month...
