Speed3 Rattle

I have a subtle rattle coming from, I guess, the dash nearest the windshield. Can't find it's origin. It just started about three months ago. Sounds like plastic vibrating against glass but I don't know. Maybe it's resonating through the a/c vents.
I read a thread somewhere about S3 rattles but don't know where I read it.
Any S3 owners with this problem??

There is a TSB for the windshield cowl rattle. I've heard the work doesn't entirely fix the issue though, expecially when it's really cold.

It could be the mirror. Had this in a Saab with one of those "does everything" mirrors.
To eliminate the mirror, grab hold of it while driving.

sounds like the typical dash rattle...had mine fixed at sil terhar several months back...been fine since, even in -10F

Do any MS6ers get this rattle, cause I sure as hell do. I thought it was something to do with my vent pod, but I eliminated that as the problem about a month ago. It gets really annoying after awhile.

What does the "fix" entail? Is it like a drop by and mention the rattle, they know exactly what you mean, and fix it while you wait? ...Or is it where you try to explain to them what the rattle is, while they stare at you with a blank look...then they say they'll fix it, but need the car for a few hours:eek::lol:

Its a common rattle that Mazda knows about. Any dealer should be able to quickly take care of it for you.

my car rattled in the front, couldn't place the source.
I added some padding to the underside of the sunglass holder which
appears to have helped.
The dealer said part of my mirror needed to be replaced, but they didn't have time to fix yesterday.

Clark, Svc Mgr at Sil Terhar, says he's aware of it, takes about 1 hour and I can wait while they do it. He does have to order parts however. If I install it, it will not be covered under warranty.
Looks to me that the repair is simple, two tools and Johnny Black Label.
He also said he will have to take the car for a test drive for about 110 miles at around 110 mph or so he can run some personal errands!
Just kidding!

Bobopud,
Mine has been doing it for a year or so, sometimes I want to tear apart the dash.......I HATE LITTLE NOISES.......drives me nuts. If you figure out what it is or how to fix it let me know.......

I had the same thing on mine, the dealers are aware of it and Mazda issued an official fix for it. I took mine to Burt, I know others take theirs to Sil-Tehar. Either place should fix it for free.
I think my work order said they place a piece of felt somewhere up in the dash. I had mine fixed a couple months ago and haven't heard it since. If anyone needs me too I can look up the exact description on the work order to help you explain it to the techs.
