Hey everyone. I appologize if I am insulting anyone's intelligence, but I have a friend in construction who was telling me about this new track that is being built. I went to take a look at it and took some pictures. It is kinda far (located near Strausburg) but I talked to the owner and the cost is $40 per day. The only catch is, you can only go there during weekdays...as the weekend is reserved for some other car clubs (Ferrari, Porsche, Viper, F1...ect)
I have more info if anyone else is inerested. The track is about 3 miles, if i had to guess. They let me drive my RX8 on the track and I hit my top speed on the straightaway. Anyway, I digress, here are the pictures.

I was out a car show this past summer in Byers where my little sis lives and they were promoting this track. A couple of older dudes had 2 vintage Formula Fords promoting the track at this small event on July 4. If my old mind serves me right they had a 1969 and a 1972 Formula Ford on display. I would love to take my 1992 Miata down that road.
As a kid in the late 60s and thru the 70's I spent almost every weekend on a track like this in Lime Rock Park

Bridgehampton Raceway

Pocono Raceway

The wife tells me I am agressive when I drive and still wonders why.

I'd love to see what I could hit on a straightaway at this altitude. I've hit 155 in California, and that was many mods ago.

Whaaat? They let you drive the track, but you didn't even know what it's called? I'm sorry but I'm going to have to call BS, and I hope somebody will back me up here so I don't sound like an ass. HPR is not letting just anyone drive the track. What makes you so special that you got to? Is your name high up on the list of contributors? (Doubtful or you would have known the name of the track and the owners!) The pavement is down, yes, but the track is still not finished, and with the way the elevation changes, without there being any walls or berms up yet, there would be huge liability issues if your "friend in construction" let you drive the track at high speed. Naturally that 140mph number would be completely made up, too...the track is almost 2.5 miles in length total (according to their website), so that straight couldn't be longer than 3/4 of a mile. A (presumably stock) RX-8 getting up to 140 in that distance? Unless your car is not stock then I don't think so
I can believe that you know people working on the track and may have met the owner, but without more info (and pictures / video to back it up) I'm not going to believe they let you drive it, sorry. And I
might be able to believe the $40/day open track, but that's not likely...even PMP is more expensive than that, and it's a much older track. All that said, I'm still very excited about this track opening and I can't wait to drive it for real next year. In the meantime, maybe we could set up a time for club members to go walk the track, which they are allowing people to do as mentioned in another thread.

I'm not nailing it down the straight unless I get a roll bar installed...
