I have always been a big fan for pin striping but yet it seems to be a dieing art. You don't see people of our generation picking up the art or even really knowing the history and it role in hot roding. One cannot truly appreciate the trade until seeing it performed in person and I had the honor to see it done today.

There is an older gentleman at my company who was big in the hot roding back in the day and seems to know quite a few people in the industry. A few months back he bought a new Tundra and got it pin striped by one of the best. I mean it looks like a custom paint job and the beauty of it all is that it was all done free hand. No masking, no stencil and no templates. Just the flow of the brush. Another guy at my office was so impressed that he got the guys name and got his black 4 door Wrangle ( 4" lift, chrome rims and roll'n on 35's) striped. After seeing both, I was hooked and had to get something done. I didn't want to start out with the Speed6, so decided that the Scion would make a good canvas for something subtle.

I got the guys number and gave him call. Pulled up to his house and waited for him to open up his detached garage to let me in. Inside was not only history but a shrine of hot roding. The walls were covered with framed magazine covers, trophies, pictures from the 40's and 50's, 50's music playing in the background and sitting on the checkered floor was a pristine 32 Ford. I had some ideas of what I was wanting to do. Something clean, not to flashing but yet distinctive. I told him my wants and he went to work . Great guy and fun to talk to. That is some thing I plan on having done to my car after I paint it. I've always liked it and I love watching it done. I will probably do it my self though.

It only cost $100 and for that price I could have had more work done. I decided to make it simple and more subtil.

Those are not undies- its the whites dude.

The reason I wanted to do it my self is not really the cost. It is something Ive always wanted to do. I've done it a little on my galaxie. I'm good at that kind of stuff.

That 32 is sweet. Looks like some really nice work.

The Saturn dealership I work at has stripes painted on all of their cars as part of the dealer add ons. I always thought they were tape stripes until I saw the dude come in one day and paint them on by hand with a brush.
