A few weeks back, I spotted a very nice 1967 Firebird convertible parked in the lot for my building on base. When I came to work Wednesday this week, I was actually behind the guy as he pulled in, so I parked behind him and got out. Here's our conversation:
Me: That's a beautiful car!
Him: I was admiring yours the other day.
Me: No way.
Him: Yeah, I was thinking how it probably does everything better than mine.
Me: I doubt that.
Him: Well, I might be able to take you in a straight line, but at this altitude, I don't know...
Me: Yeah, but I can't put my top down.
Turns out he's had the car for 21 years. His dad gave it to him as his first car, and he's had it ever since. Been all over the country with him, and he still drives it on nice days. Nice fella, and had a lot of respect for the MS6, which is rare for a muscle car guy.
