Ok so first things first.
Hi good to be back, I have been gone for some time due to my computer basicly blowing up on me. Just one day it all fell apart on me and then I got to go talk on the phone with some guy who is probably half way around the world who can bearly speak english trying to troubble shoot while the whole time I just wanted to get it sent in and fixed. At any rate It is fixed (obviously) and I should be more active now. Any way none of that was totaly relevant.
Next order of business. I order up my exhaust and it came in. I got a Magnaflow cat-back exhaust and had it sent up to a shop up in boulder where my step dad knows a guy so we are going to put my car up on a lift for free making the install much easier. So I am going to get that put on Friday YAY!!! I will have pics up as soon as I can.
Last thing. Now I want to get my Intake. That is where I could use some input. I want to know from people who have a CIA for either the speed 3 or 6 (I think that they should be same seeing as they use the same engine, correct me if I am wrong) how they like theirs. I could use a price range and performance along with if it throws a code. Or if u want just make a suggestion to a good CIA or something. Basically I want to maximize performance without it throwing a code all the time. Thx in advance for anyone with help.

Welcome back and congrats on the new exhaust!
As for MS3 and MS6 intakes, they are not the same. You are correct they are the same motor, but the engine bays are pretty different in configuration.
From what i know Cp-e makes a terrific intake for both the MS3 and MS6. The MS cai for your car is the same as an AEM intake (AEM makes MS intakes). An MS intake will be covered by Mazda and will not pose any problems at a dealer, but iv heard that the Cp-e is the better of the two. Cobb is also said to be making a SF intake for the MS6. I have the Cobb SF intake (short ram) and i think its by far the best. The only thing different between the Cobb piece for the MS3 and MS6 will be mounting hardware from what i read from a Cobb engineer.

Not sure on the Cobb intake for the MS6. Its been quite some time since iv seen anything about it. Give them a call and maybe they can provide you with more info. I know a lot of MS6 owners running the Cp-e piece, and they really like it.
Thx for correcting me. I knew that the motor was the same but was not shure if the config was totaly differenty or just a few things. At any rate so far I have seen the MS intake that Mazda sells and I will go look at the Cp-e intake. Also any idea when the Cobb intake is supposed to be released?[/b]

I've had the CP-e for almost 2 years, was one of the first to get it and had to wait like two months because of the demand when it was released. It was my first MOD. I have had no codes thrown since it has been installed. You can get it from streetunit.com great guys......therpmstore.com also good guys(if its in stock it will be at your door in two days, order it monday it will be there wed)......every one is right at $325 shipped for it. I love the intake, although I recommend getting the water repelant slip cover $37 because the filter is an AFE dry filter and will get water logged very easy. There is nothing stopping the water splash back from your drivers side front tire, it gets right through the vents in the plastic. I just put a piece of plexi glass in there to keep any water getting to the filter. It is quite loud, kind of scared me at first but it grows on you quickly, lets you hear everything the turbo is doing. Good luck.......Greg

I also have the CP-E intake and I love it. Last I looked, CP-E guarantees it will not throw a Check Engine Light due to its placement of the MAF sensor.
Quick note on the Magnaflow cat-back, be SURE that it fits where you want it to fit and be SURE that it will stay in that position when tightened. The recommended torque for all clamp bolts is 80 ft/lbs, as your install instructions will tell you. If you do not like the fitment within the stock bumper exits, replace the metal oval rings in the bumper and just cut the tips off the mufflers. It will still sound great, and you won't be replacing melted bumper exits for $200/side like I had to. Please, don't let my mistake be your mistake too!
Oh and welcome back

Greg Thx for the input on the CP-e intake. I will probably also get the water cover for it and I know exactly where the slits are in the wheel well so I will just cover that up also. O btw I noticed ur BOV how do u like it, and do u have it set up VTA, Recycle, or both? that is probably going to be one of my mods for the near future.
Rich thx for the input on the exhaust and for saving me from replacing parts. Um so what exactly did u end up doing to make it so the exhaust would not melt the bumper exits?

I like it, mine is set up in hybrid mode, will vent back into the system at low levels of boost and VTA at high levels. Once it is broken in it the fluttering everyone talks about settles down. It pretty much comes set from SU so that helps in the beginning. A little adjustment and mine has been rock solid. The flutter only happens when I drive like a grandma, which is always.........
Its has a nice sound not that annoying beew beew sound you hear on a lot of subarus and such. Its a healthy psshh.......lets everyone know you got something under that hood. Again it is quite loud VTA, but I like it. IMO a must have......

Well, after I replaced my bumper exits, I had the tips cut off the mufflers. Looks stock, but doesn't sound stock

Got the new exhaust put on. Sounds and looks great I mean god I was so happy to get those fake tips out and replace the cat back pipe. The pipe is about three times as big its great and the muffler is a straight through. I definatly noticed it moved my power band up a little bit and possibly a slight gain in HP but it may just be a placebo kinda thing
because we all know that crome adds HP
. So far no melting of the bumper exits. I got a little bit because the exaust tip kinda slid back and was blowing on the exits but only a verry minor to the point where I could hand file it off and it looks fine. Got that put back in place with no melting so far also thinking about extending the exhaust tips a little bit with some cutting and welding (having exhaust shop do that part)

It is quite easy to install just take your time and not rush.......also make sure to check the filter for any debris, mine had some chunks of what ever glue they use for it inside even though it was in the plastic wrap. Also make sure to feel around inside the intake tube for any burrs that could come off during use. mine was one of the first so I am sure quality has gotten even better. Debris=No good for turbo. A 1/4 socket set helps for getting everything tight for the filter band clamp. Be careful with the removal and reinstall of the MAF sensor. Make sure to reset the ECU. Most important, ENJOY!!!
