doesnt it suck.... lol. im covered in carb cleanr and gas and the car is apart. im bleeding all over the place and no matter what theres snags around everycorner. if i didnt have my compressor i wolud have been sol hours ago.... hell i even had to make my own exhaust down pipe to exhaust pipe gasket....
the gas and carb cleanr are the worse part. lol.
anyone else work on their own cars and no matter what they do they hit a snag.?
btw i took the intercooler and ALL the piping out found debris from the turbo i will put pics up for you to share your thoughts on why the ihi i buy are pos's. lol
okay back to the beast. if im not back in a few hours im pasd out from fumes... lol

i think it is the reason's above that I do not work on my car....heck I am still trying to find the fuel release so I can get more gas....been running

It's the end result. It sucks when it's your daily driver that you have to depend on, but otherwise, I love working on cars. Being all covered in grease, slime, whatever, and your car works better than before you started. Ahh, always makes me feel good.

So far working on the 3 has been a breeze. But that is to be expected it's only 2 years old. Now I had a 1990 cherokee that I spent about 2 years wrenching on day in and day out and hit snags constantly. But I never met a snag that couldn't be solved with a grinder and my welder lol.

Yeah, if you don't have to bolt everything back together in a hurry to use the car to go somewhere, then I've found that working on my car(s) to be fairly enjoyable. I have endured some painful installs with my Saturn (poly suspension bushings, SS brake lines, oil pan gasket, transmission oil seals....) but for the most part I've enjoyed it.

I've always worked on my cars myself. saves me alot of money. I even injoy it most of the time.

Most of the time, I get a bit cut up, and have a couple stumbling blocks along the way, but when everything is done, it's worth it IMO. Also, saving yourself a ton of money in the process doesn't hurt.... combined with the fact I don't trust hardly anyone to work on my car.

The last time I had a Subaru ASE certified mechanic work on my old WRX, he forgot to tighten/clamp a FPR hose coming off my intake manifold, which ended up costing me a motor.... needless to say, since then I would really rather work on my own car to make sure everything is being done right, and if it's not, I'm the only one to blame. Just my $.02
