So I found a thermometer laying around that isn't being used anywhere. It's one of those cheap ones you might find in the "automotive" aisle at a store like Target. It's got a digital display and a pretty long cord for the temp sensor.
So anyway, I routed the temp sensor so it dangles in the airflow just before the air going into the throttle body. I'm going to monitor it for the next few weeks. Then I'm going to wrap my intake in some reflective and insulative material (ie. a car sun shade) and monitor that for a few weeks and compare.
While the thermometer probably isn't very accurate, I'm betting it will be able to show a delta between wrapped and unwrapped.
That's the plan anyway.......
Stay tuned.
And on a side note, I drove to Ft Collins today. I was watching my oil temp gauge and was pretty surprised to see it at about 240* most of the way. Water temps were down closer to 180*. I need to get my transmission temp gauge hooked up.
