Less aero drag. That and all the other front running cars in the WRC are hatchbacks.

Interesting... did it say why he thought so exactly?[/b]

You'll notice most WRC cars are hatchbacks nowadays... not just for aero purposes, but because hatches have shorter rear overhangs... shorter overhangs are less likely to drag in the rear on rough bumps/jumps ect. The added ability to add extra camber in the front suspension due to them switching over from an inverted MacPherson to a double-wishbone doesn't hurt either.

I saw an episode of BMI (Best Motoring International) where they put the new '08 STI vs the '07 STI vs EVO IX vs EVO X manual transmission vs EVO X SST transmission.... I found it over on Nasioc, and will post the link if I can find it again... to make a long story short, the new '08 STI murdered the other 4 cars on Tsukuba. The cars, from fastest to slowest were in this order: '08 STI, EVO IX, '07 STI, EVO X manual & EVO X SST. The '08 STI beat the next fastest car by a pretty good margin, but the '07 STI & EVO IX were within a tenth or 2 of each other IIRC, and both of them murdered the new EVO X's by a good margin. I have no idea what the differences are between the USDM & JDM STI's suspension, but it would obvious, the car was fast, handled extremely well... I hate how they water cars down in the US market :(

My quick $0.02 opinion on the new Impreza line:

I was washing my car last week when I saw a shining new Kia rolling into my neighbor's driveway. I got this crazy idea: "whoa! those Koreans car manufacturers are getting better with their designs nowadays". The car kind of bugged my curiosity and upon getting closer to check it out, I realized then that it was a Subaru STI >.<

He says it needs a coilover suspension set up BADLY to be competitive in STU.

I think the new STI looks alot better going fast than it does sitting still. But I think that about any car.

I think he choose the best color for the new STi's. I do like the new STi's just not as much as i do the older STi's.
