I am getting ready to pull the trigger on the dp and the only reason I haven't is because I'm still a little confused as to which dp I want. S.U. has the cpe catless dp's on sale for 500 which is about 60 bucks off and corksport is selling their own dp for 299 but I would have to purchase a test pipe. Either way I'm going to end up having to buy a universal cat and weld it in, but I am really leaning toward the corksport because of the ease of installation. What do you guys think! P.S. Have you guys used a lift in the past to do it or just jack stands?

If you go with the Corksport, can't you just use your 2nd cat when it's time for emissions? I'm not familiar with how the Speed 3s are setup.

We've used jackstands, and it's not very hard. A lift would be nice, but not necessary.

the corksport is no easier to install than any other dp IMO. In fact, if it is manufactured the same way as the speed 6 version, install can be a bitch, due to the bolt locations on the flange..

The speed3 downpipe can be reomved from the bottom of the car, the engine shouldnt have to be moved near as much, I think jackstands would be fine.

I was going to mention the same regarding the 2nd cat, but I too am not sure how the speed 3's are setup as far as cats go..

Catted DP FTW...install it and forget it

The speed 3 has 2 cats, 1 on the downpipe and one between the downpipe and the main exhaust. You can do a downpipe W/O cat and leave the factory 2nd cat, or do a SU test pipe which would replace the 2nd cat (easy to swap in and out for emissions). I have a factory DP and a SU test pipe and they test pipe will match up with any exhaust and DP to the best of my knowledge.

so yeah...why make this difficult??

Save the money, order the Corksport, and leave it at that... Keep the second cat there, its the same as welding in a universal.. lol

cnrirwin wrote:That is so funny that you say that. Is that the same Scott that used to own his own performance shop in Fort Collins? If so he built me a custom turbo set up for my old 2004 z06. It took him almost a year to complete it and in the process he set my fuel injectors a flame. Now if it isn't him which it probablt isn't then no offense but if it is I think i'll pass as we didn't leave on the best of circumstances. Thanks for the suggestion though!

I don't think it is the same guy. This Scott has been in Loveland for at least 10 years or so. I picked up my last Cobra from him in 2001 up there.

Well I ended up getting it and the instructions looked fairly decent so I attempted it. I only had problems with the studs backing themselves out and trying to get the 02 connectors to come apart. Getting the 02 sensors themselves off was no big deal. Thanks for the insight guys and I appreciate the offers for help! Also, one other question does anybody know if you can use an access port with the Hks Suction intake?

There should be AP maps that can be used with any aftermarket intake. Check on Cobb's website or email Christian @ Cobb to find out more.

Thought I'd keep this thread going...
I'm strongly considering picking up a Corksport Turbo back exhaust. However, I'm not too familiar with Corksport. The price, sound, performance + tech writeup on their website makes it seem like a no brainer.
Anyone have any thoughts, advice or concerns about this setup? Erik, could I hit you up for help with an install if I pull the trigger?
