during all my work I was doing on my car last week, I noticed the front differential was leaking. There is a TSB for the issue, so I took it into Mazda this morning to be fixed. Clark called me later and said that the single-piece downpipe is in the way of fixing the leaky seal...the stock downpipe comes apart in the middle, right where they need to get to. SO, the stock piece must be back on the car. MAzda warranty will not cover removing the full downpipe, which is another $300 out of pocket..

so Im forced to put my stock dp back on again to get the leak fixed...BUT I stripped the o2 sensor bung on the stock dp the last time I removed it from the car...so thats where we are..

Clark said I can remove the cp-e dp and tow the car in, they fix it, and then tow it back to my shop, or pay $225 for the new section of dp that i need... My insurance will pay for one way of the tow, ($100). Id rather try to borrow one for a couple days...although its a bitch to remove and install, remove and install, remove and install....

Rich has offered to let me use his pipe for a couple of days, so I think I'll go that route... Thanks everybody for the help and suggestions...

Unfortunately, I dont think I will have everything broke-in good enough to dyno on saturday. We'll see..

Ad Josh, after looking at that AAA, it might be worth getting regardless..thx

Unfortunately, I rummaged through the garage last night, and couldn't find my speed6 downpipe :( I think I threw it away the last time I was cleaning out my garage, along with my old resonator and small misc. extra MS6 parts... which were replaced with a large pile of Subaru parts. Sorry buddy, I tried :(

Lastly, depending on when you need it... you could always just purchase an OEM DP (or at least the bottom part) from a forum like mazda6club. Here's one for sale:
http://forum.mazda6club.com/index.php?showtopic=104877

^^^It's a bit pricey, but you could always ask him if he would be able to sell you just the bottom piece?!? When I wanted to gut my stock DP back in the day, I just PM'd a few people over on mazda6club that I knew had aftermarket DP's and asked if they would be willing to sell me their stock DP... which ended with me picking up an OEM DP for a whopping $50 shipped :D Unless you need it today, it's worth a shot.

Just an FYI, my Speed6 had what I would call a "class 1" (not dripping, just a leak) leak from the transfer case from the time I bought it (noticed at about 1000 miles while under the car), all the way up until I sold it at 12k miles, and never had a problem. FWIW.
