Need some help from somebody who's put in an AudioLink

So I had one of those Audiolink iPod controllers put in my MS6 earlier this year. Things have been working pretty tip-top up until this weekend though, when I noticed it wouldn't go into its AUX mode.

Coincidentally, it seemed to happen right when I was rerouting some of the cord up through my armrest console. I'm afraid I may have unplugged something.

Can somebody maybe give me a hand and tell me how I remove all the plastic console, so I can see what I've done? I need to get under it all, where the boot for the shifter is at, and the cup-holder area, etc. etc. That's where it routes through.

I'm sure it's not terribly complex, but I just don't want to break anything.

In my infinite impatience, I decided to just start and try prying on things. Easily enough I got the console taken apart. A few tabs here, a few tugs there, it popped out without too much drama. Turns out it helps to unscrew the shift knob.

So yeah... I pulled up all those bits and got down to the audio link. Everything looked great, nothing was unplugged, no crimped wires, nothing.. But just to be safe, I tried un/replugging everything, just to see...

No help.

After that, I remembered hearing that you had to take out the glove box, to get behind the stereo. 2 or 4 screws later, I have the glovie taken apart and although I didn't have the stereo face moved out any, I can at least snake my hand back in there behind it, and find the cord. It appears to be firmly in place, so I decide to just reseat it firmly and try again...

No help. The inside of my car with all the parts scattered everywhere, is starting to anger me, if not worry me a little bit.

Then I think to myself... I wonder if the Audio Link itself is busted? Maybe even the stereo?...

Just for kicks, I decide to unhook the + from the battery for a couple 1 or 5 seconds. You know... reboot the damn thing. It works with PC's! Next thing you know, everything is working again.

Sigh.... Yes. It was considerably ass backwards of myself, but call me a pessimist. I kinda expected the worst, and started troubleshooting accordingly. I just finished putting all of the interior back together and I'm still kicking myself for not trying the battery first, but hey... at least I tried something, instead of just taking it to Best Buy. I kind of even succeeded, despite doing my best to sabotage myself.

Oh well.... That's my story. Time to go back out and reset my clock and presets. I'm pretty sure part might actually go smoothly.

how hard is it to remove the radio? I am thinking of getting something like that for my non-ipod mp3 player.

Not entirely sure. I never quite got that far. After getting the glovie taken apart, that was where I kind of got stuck. I don't think it's too hard though after that, once you find the right bolts/screws.
