What do you have left to spend in mods?

What will the total mods cost be for all the mods you would like to do?


What I have to go:
+-$3000 in suspension
+-$1500 in body and paint
+-$800 in wheels and tires
$500 in clutch
$500 in front brakes
+-$800 in interior
$1000 in stereo
+-$400 in exhaust
$1000 for whatever is left
about $9500 total

That will end up being about $18,000 in a car that is worth $4000 max.
I guess I must be out of my mind.

$500 for front brakes?!?!? I hope that's for a BBK.

For me though, I really don't know. Nor do I care to know. I just sent some cam gears to Canada to be modified and that will cost $70 + shipping.

I've not really priced anything out like that, but I'm guessing that it wouldn't take much time at all, to get into the 10's of thousands of dollars.


Engine work, Brembo kits, coilovers.... Yeah. Things would get out-of-hand with a quickness. Ha!

$600/set r-comp tires for autocross 1-2x year
$200/set aggressive snows to try rallyx

Does buying a Miata count?
It will need tires, adjustable struts, catback, front sway, filter, and whatever else a 10-13yo Miata needs to be a reliable and competitive autox car.

Yup and it scares me.

Tom it's $500 because I will be getting power slot rotors, hawk pads, new calipers and brackets, etc. Parts for these old cars are not cheap.

Oh man. Unlimited budget, I will build my FD into a nice street car capable of holding its own on the track. Not that it can't do that now, but it needs some things.

- Urethane suspension bushings, $500 in all
- Oil cooler, $350-ish including lines. I NEED this actually, next mod for sure
- Single turbo kit, $3000 (including GT2876R turbo, injectors, manifold, fuel pump, oil lines)
- BBK, the Stoptech kit I want is $2200. And you thought Chris' brakes were expensive
- Work VS-XX rims, $3200 in the size I want. Reference pic...except I want mine with gold faces
- Lightweight flywheel, $300
- Paint and body work, around $3000
- Stereo equipment, I could easily spend $1000 on this but it's not a priority
- KS Auto Burnout body kit, $1200. Like this, in fact that's close to the same color I would paint my car

Total that up and it's around $14,750. I paid $15k for the car and I've already put $2000 into it. If I were to do all that, I could sell it for maybe $20k max. Cars are money pits But if I were rich, I wouldn't even care. The thrill of driving a car built exactly to your own specifications is like nothing else.
