Near miss this weekend
Allrite I got one for ya... Embarassing as it is. I went out Mon morning - the super cold morning, 630am, car's outside, snow and frost all over it. I usually leave it in neutral, sometimes in 1st. So I put in the clutch, it reluctantly turns over. I'm running late and by the time it turns over my mind's on getting the snow off the car and I forget to do the "neutral shifter jiggle" before I let the clutch out. Of course it was in 1st - now this is no big deal, but at -8 degrees out, I'm telling you, it sounded like the engine block cracked in half when it stalled. I was in disbelief at what I just did - it sounded horrible. So I turn the key again (this time in neutral) and there's a loud POP like when a light bulb goes out, but it started. So I let it warm up, got the snow off, and prayed like a MF all morning that my S6 wasn't F'd. I started it the next time in the afternoon and there was no pop and it started up fine. I was just so pissed off at myself - I had never stalled a car that cold. Took me 2 days to get over it.
