Driving in the snow and ice

Postby MiataJoe » Fri Nov 14, 2008 9:14

Well I got my first hand experience today with 2008 mazda 3 on snow and ice.

I live up in conifer and the snow started flying as I walked out the door at 6:45 am this morning. I got down to Aspen Park and blizzard like snow flying.

Just below that an SUV was flipped over on the south bound side of 285 as I was heading north to work down in Sedalia. Everyone started slamming brakes to slow down. DSC and Traction Control kicked in with Bridgestone Blizzak tires. I was happy as hell the way the car handled. On the ice I decided to test the waters and see how the traction control would fair the car tracked straight as an arrow and allowed me to steer. Tires running 50 MPH reving up 4 grand and the car handled very well. Decided to test the Dynamic Stabilty control and slammed on the brakes. Was impressed the way it handled the situtation and still allowed me to be in control.
