it only takes them an hour or less to replace it..[/b]

yes but the time and suffering while this is done is a PITA.... can't tell you how many hours I've wasted getting my car fixed rental or not.

It took 45 minutes to do the switch out this morning (you have to bring the car in twice though, unless you take a loaner).

The system sounds terrific now though.

glad it's fixed...twice? once to confirm the issue and once to replace the part? do they offer a ms3 as a loaner? ;)

You have to bring it in twice (or leave it at the dealership for at least a couple of days) because there are about eight different units they use depending on the specific wiring of your car. So they have to take the head unit out and look at it before they can order the appropriate replacement. Since the turnaround turned out to be just a couple of days I should have taken a loaner but they didn't know at the time how long it would be -- said it could take a week.

Turns out Mazda dealers got a notice this Friday that the systems need to be replaced in at least some 2008 Speed3s. I don't know if this applies only to the GT and/or only to the "new" version of the 2008 they just started selling.[/b]

Hey, so I am new to this forum...thanks Josh for refering me. But is there a notice number on this??? I called Champion Mazda(where I bought it) and they didn't see the notice, but they are going to check it out for me. Figured it would make things go faster if they had a quick reference to an official Mazda notice.
