Trying to log...WTF is this?

Postby movovr » Wed Aug 24, 2011 9:14

Flashed Stage1+SF 91 v108 yesterday and tried to log.
I'm thinking I don't have something configured correctly on the AP? Has anyone ever seen anything like this?

I also only logged for maybe 1-2 minutes but the number of samples on the file are huge! I cut a small section out as it was repeating this pattern seen in the file.

By the way, car ran great since the flash and pulled noticeably harder in the upper RPM's so I don't know what's up with this log. The realtime data was acting crazy too.

LOL that is really weird. Well for starters it seems like it's sampling way too often. You've got over 100 lines for just two and a half seconds. I don't remember if there's an option in the AP to make it sample less often. 10 times a second should be sufficient. That still doesn't explain what's up with the really weird numbers like 16k rpm and 92k DI fuel pressure though.

Have you flashed the newest firmware onto the AP?

Yeah, just flashed the newest firmware. Even had COBB on the phone while I did it as the AP Manager wasn't installing at first. AP Manager says I'm running current version.

I was looking at the AP itself trying to see if there is a way to change the sample size but I can't find anything. Just Monitor>Data Log>"Ok" to begin logging.

Yea I thought it set it automatically depending on how many parameters you selected. Almost seems like it's in some kind of test mode though, testing out the thresholds of each of the parameters.

Found this guys thread on MSF with the same problem. http://www.mazdaspeedforums.org/forum/f9/cobb-access-port-datalog-numbers-showing-up-wrong-89605/#post1007372

I just tried the suggestion of opening my map in ATR and resaving to AP Manager. I'll reflash it today and see if that does anything. In the meantime I'm blind or until COBB emails me back.

I work on the MS6 side of things, so your updates and mine aren't exactly the same. But yeah... If you're fully flashed up to the current release on your AP, then it's like the map you've installed needs to be opened up with ATRace (the current release) and then resaved and pushed back out to your ECU again.

G'luck!

ok, just tried the above and same thing. Here is the response I got from COBB:

The erratic real-time data is being caused by an incompatibility in the firmware version of the map and the version the AccessPORT is using. It sounds like the AccessPORT is on "Beta" firmware while the map is in "Public" firmware. If you have a 2007 - 2009 Speed 3, try using the appropriate map from here. If you have a 2010 - 2011, try using the appropriate map from here. Please let me know if this fixes the issue you are having. Thank you.

The link takes me to the new boost based tuning beta map which I think requires calibrating your MAF first. Problem is, I can't calibrate my MAF if I can't LOG! Waiting for response from COBB to confirm if I use that map.

That's weird that they don't have some kind of baseline MAF calibration already done for your intake. You have a Cobb intake right?

Yep COBB SRI & TIP. Been back and forth with them all day. They think the problem is when I updated the software it pulled the most recent 'beta' firmware. The map I'm running is a 'public' map not in beta. They had me reinstall the 2.0 AP Manager rather than 2.0.1.5 in beta so they match. I'll be checking if that was the fix I needed on my way home from work today.

I’m running the stg1+SF Beta Boost Tuning 102 Map from Cobb without having calibrated the MAF. After driving around for a few days, all the breakpoints for the LTFT values were +/- 5 or less and at the time there was a problem with running logging on a customized/ATR resaved map. So I just left it and it’s been the best street map I have used in two years with the AP. Though mileage is down a bit, probably just from the higher idle setting designed to defeat smoky turbos.

You can always load it and if you see high LTFT values after a few days driving, worry about calibrating the MAF then.

As soon as I can log I'll be able to see what if anything I need to do. Car is running great with the map on it. Being blind is killing me since I sold my DashHawk. Had I know they would be disco'd I never would have gotten rid of it.
Heading out now, hopefully the fix they gave me will work.
....stay tuned (no pun intended)

Here are my first logs from this morning. Flashed Stage1+SF 91v108
AFR's look fine although rich (10.8) at the top. Fuel Pressure seems fine, hold boost ok but would like to find a map with it up'd a bit. Not quite ready to start tuning myself.
Any comments are appreciated.

Logs look good. I don't think they have an OTS map that will hit 18psi up here and if they do it'd be a stage 2 map. So if you want more boost you're probably going to have to do some tuning in ATR, unless you got a protune.

And yea it could be leaned out a little more. High 11s are no problem on this car. I was running in the 11.9-12.1 range on my protune.

I believe all the stage 2 maps require (recommend) a upgrade FP. As long as mine is holding pressure fine I don't think I'll spend the $. Car feels fast enough and is running good.
