Another cel

Postby christi » Sun Aug 07, 2011 9:14

So this cel came on sometime Thursday night. I went to advance auto to read it and it read P0455. They said it's either a vacuum leak or a gas gap not tighten. So o tighten the cap an it's still on. I checked all my hoses and none seemed to be cracked, haven't tested to see if there is any leaks. Any ideas?

It could still be the cap. did it happen after fill up? If so did you reset the system if you didnt find out how. I'm not sure but some times they will reset itself, or you have to disconnect the battery - cable for 30min to be safe. If it comes on again it still might be gas cap (age related). Also could be a leak in the emission system te lines that run fumes bach to intake. I would research rx-7.com or our own site to see if theres athread about this issue its preaty common.

It's for the Mazda 3 not the 7. I'll get a second opinion on the cel tho. I didn't have them reset it. The car runs fine otherwise. Yeah it was after a fill up on Thursday night. I just wanted to be sure of it all I guess. Too many cel's lately.

I have the same one. Except on my truck. I already did EVERYTHING recommended to fix it. New gas cap. Valve on top of the tank to stop the flow of the gas pump. New fuel pump new fuel filter. Checked filler neck. Replaced most vacuum hoses (some had recently been changed before) and still nothing. I also disconected the battery after every attempt to fix. I gave up now. Good luck with yours :)

It's off again. I filled up yesterday and it was on until I got off work tonight. So no idea...

IIRC, don't CELs turn off automatically after a certain number of driving cycles?

I thought it was 3 driving cycles before it'll turn itself off.

I had the gas cap issue in my Speed3. It was under warranty though so I just took it to the dealer and they replaced the cap.

If that was the case then the temp stat didn't turn off until I replaced it which was a few cycles later haha

Chris & erod: yeah I'm totally not in warranty lol. If it comes on again I'll replace it, I'll price it out anyway. Now my gas cap has it attached to the door would it be the same replacement lol ?
