I think they succeeded. While more power would be fun, the chassis is really well balanced, and the amount of power would be really manageable when driven hard by a person of average or above average skill. Even stock, my MS3 had more power than it needed. It took really judicious throttle control t...

That's another perk. It's literally less volatile. You can drop a match into diesel and it goes out. That has a certain appeal to a person that's had 2 cars totaled around him in 5 years.

The other nice thing is that pricing for diesel tends to be less volatile since the trucking and transportation lobbies are really affected by even small fluctuations.

Can do on the pics. The interior is easily the nicest of any car I've owned. The price of diesel isn't much higher. The most I've payed so far is 3.80, and it's running around 3.55 right now. When I did the math it translated to about $1500/year if I'm driving 25k/year.

It's the best part of owning an old American truck. Parts can be bought anywhere and are dirt cheap. The calipers when I did my disc brake swap cost me $20 each.

Really? I'm surprised. The heater core for my '71 Bronco can usually be found locally with a little calling around. Might even be the same part.

How about a weighted system that multiplies 0-60 times with mileage over that quarter?

Thanks! Its been pretty fun so far. I tried to get mOOse to see whose car pulled harder at 1700 rpm, but all he did was mutter about it having to be uphill in the snow....

Fourth. A reman caliper for my WRX was about $70 at O'Reilly, well worth it.

Picked up a 2012 Golf TDI yesterday. Emich cut me a good deal and took really good care of us. Looking forward to the entertaining combination of 45mpg and 236 ft/lbs of torque. Suck that, Prius.

mOOsE, I share your frustration around the accountability thing. It's a really hard balance to strike, and I'm not sure what the best way to do it is. Oh, and guns-what's to debate? They're fun, and anyone who doesn't enjoy decimating watermelons with 7.62 is a killjoy. I guess we could debate about...

Strangely, I believe I said I could support programs that actually worked to help the people get out of the situation. If that program does that and they want to get people off drugs, then why the free clean needles? Why not pay for rehab, job placement and short term housing? I am all for helping ...

And I've strayed beyond my original point. Clean needles save money. Health care is expensive, and like it or not, you're paying for their care. End of story.
