Re: My 1974 REPU Project

Haha yeah, meant they picked up the FC engine because it's the wrong engine. Come to think of it I should have put my old REPU engine on the pallet and kept the FC engine, despite the rear rotor having zero compression. I STILL have no tracking number for the correct engine and no communication from...

Re: My 1974 REPU Project

yeah, just a little screw up LOL! UPS freight picked up the wrong engine today. I should hear back from the engine importer regarding when the correct engine will be delivered, but apparently it was going to Florida so it's in a warehouse in Tampa. I bet they lost a bunch of $ now having to reship t...

Re: My 1974 REPU Project

When do you think you will be welding the subframe in? Would like to see that. You going to mig, tig, or stick it? Most likely MIG. I'm no expert welder (hardly even an average one). My plan is to just get some sold beads on it and then drill a hole through the frame and the subframe and put a long...

Re: My 1974 REPU Project

FC CAS ? Yeah, if I run the REPU front cover then that's what I'd have to do. The FC CAS has far less resolution than the stock FD CAS and more "float" or room for error. Additionally, no way to run the factory FD ECU it with. I plan on running the OE ECU not only for simplicity and to el...

Re: My 1974 REPU Project

I looked more into the tablet gauge idea, but only found really expensive options. So my new plan will be to see if I can get the stock speedometer and tach to work, and add a WB02 and boost gauge. I'll use the PFC Commander for water temp. Maybe I'll add an oil pressure gauge down the road. But try...

Re: My 1974 REPU Project

My thought was to initially operate it like a standalone boost controller. It would run a simple speed density based map and control the switchover at a point relevant to compressor efficiency instead of just RPM based. And with servo operated valves the prespool and sequence can be done with a sin...

Re: My 1974 REPU Project

You can delete the OMP with the PFC, right? Why not just get a PFC right away? Talk to Jason Kaiser, Dwduc. He's in love with the stock twins haha. He was talking about ditching the solenoids and building an electrical box I believe to control everything. I think the later FDs came with something s...

Re: My 1974 REPU Project

2855 lbs. that truck is that heavy ? My FD wights 2950 with me in it this is with the lighter 8.8 diff setup and no PPF. The FB race car weights 2480 with me in it. Figure it would be way lighter that's crazy. Yeah, the truck isn't as light as I would think. It weights about as much as an FD....

Re: My 1974 REPU Project

Dude a Twin turbo REW on that truck is going to be so much fun!!! Can't wait to see it finished. Haha yeah thanks Eduardo! My plan is to swap in the REW with the stock sequential twins and keep them sequential. Do a simplified sequential setup and remove all emissions and run a PowerFC as the PFC i...

Re: My 1974 REPU Project

Small design updates, So fc turboII engine are generally more difficult find, and combimed that I know less about them than the FD REW, they are also capable of less power than the REW, and the REW has larger stock ports. I've always wanted to go REW, but I had concerns about the factory twin turbos...

Re: My 1974 REPU Project

Not much updates here lately. Been pretty busy with work and life in general raising two kids. I rewired the fuel pump thinking that could be the problem with the truck running rough but no change. I'm not sure if it's fuel or ignition related at this point. Not really sure what to test or where to ...

Re: My 1974 REPU Project

so Bumblebee has been having ups and downs lately, as most projects do I suppose. After the fuel tank and then fuel pump debacle, I finally got the pump running right and took Bumblebee on his first real drive down the street to the gas station. It made the trip without hiccup which was really cool!...

Re: My 1974 REPU Project

So today I dropped the fuel tank to investigate what was happening with the fuel pickup tube. Luckily I'm now almost a pro at dropping the fuel tank so I had it out in no time haha. I started with trying to shove some rebar tie through the tubes (all three, the pickup, return, and vent) were all blo...

Re: My 1974 REPU Project

What year are the Mazda B2000 brakes? 1982 IIRC. They are the same size but the REPU has the actual wheel hub bolt to the front of the rotor whereas the B2000 rotor sits ontop of the hub like a modern disc. Well that sucks about the front brakes. What are you going to do now? HF sells a legit Mityv...

Re: My 1974 REPU Project

Thanks guys! Well, the front brakes were a total fail. I thought I was all smart and ordered some Mazda B2000 front brake discs as they were 6 lug like the REPU and the same size, only vented as opposed to the REPUs non vented discs. Nice little upgrade, right? Nope, they didn't even come close to f...
