Nice looking car. The wheels look like they are Protege wheels or something. I don't believe they are Miata as the 99+ came with a 15" but in a different design. See link for Miata wheel info:

Alternator isn't a big deal to change. If you have AC/PS then you have to remove that belt first, then the alt/wp belt. 1 plug and 1 bolt on wire to remove (disconnect battery first). I would say rollbar if you don't mind having the soft top year round. Unless there is a specific NEED for a hardtop, then I would skip it. Only times it is nice is in traffic with top up for visibility out the rear window, and for racing purposes for aerodynamics. Otherwise, soft top is the way to go.
