Re: Do you change your own oil?
I do, but don't mind having shops do bigger maintenance items like alignment, axles, etc. I just do fluids on my own because it's easy, cheaper, and I know exactly what's going in.

Nice job on the cleanup. What engine is that? 390?

Re: Ok, I'll go first...
Lookout isn't much fun unless you go late at night or early morning, and on a weekday. It's a popular tourist destination, and a fun place to have a BBQ, so there's always lots of traffic otherwise. But, yeah you can take it to I70, so you could connect with other roads. Golden Gate Canyon is fun. I...

Re: Project: Integra
I went to look at how the belts are now. The lap belt actually does lock, consistently. But the shoulder belt doesn't. That's pretty dangerous considering the car doesn't have an airbag. I think I have a plan, though. The seat rail bolt won't work for lap belts---it's under the seat. But it looks li...

Re: Project: Integra
Well, the thing is that I'm not sure they're locking appropriately. You can give the belt a hard pull and it doesn't lock. In other words, if I hit something, I'm not sure they'd actually hold me in place. I think I know the seatbelt trick you're talking about (this) and that depends on belts actual...

Re: Project: Integra
I didn't get a chance to walk the track as I didn't make it down in time. Not going to make that mistake again. If I have to, I'll go down Saturday night and stay the night. The funny thing is that people are surprised that they do so well. Maybe more like insulted that these 90s crap cans are beati...

Re: Project: Integra
So, despite bad ball joints (I'm now positive that's what the clunk is), I took the Integra to PPIR's Time Attack series today. It was the first real autocross I've ever done. I've done plenty of track days, but cone chasing is ummm pretty tough for my directionally challenged brain :) I find it dif...

Re: Project: Integra
I've kinda let this car sit for a while, but due to the clutch going out in my Civic I put it back together and have been driving it around. I forgot just how massively different modern cars are. This thing is so raw by comparison. I didn't realize how much I missed having a cable throttle, and bein...

Re: Worth $1000?
How many miles are on it? I don't know if I'd autocross / track it without replacing at least the rear trailing arm bushings. Those are integral to the rear suspension being stable, and almost guaranteed to be trashed. Likewise for the shock mounting points and the front upper control arm bushings. ...

Re: Build thread
For the shoulder belts, how're you planning mounting the eye bolts? Obvious answer is drilling through the bar, but I don't think I'd trust that. Better to weld a tab. Or you could just do the wrap around method using the 3-bar brackets that should've come with the harness. That's the easiest anyway...

Re: Build thread
Gotcha. In case they didn't come with instructions, pretty good article here on how to wrap the belts through the adjustments / mounting rings. http://www.jegs.com/instructions/471/471harnessinstall.pdf As for where to mount the other belts, you might be able to reuse the existing lap belt bolt hole...

Re: Build thread
Out of curiosity, how're you mounting them? I can't remember if your car has a rollbar or not. But there's definitely a right and wrong way to mount shoulder belts. Submarine belt(s) too. (Which, BTW, I should note are very important...in case you haven't mounted a harness before / weren't explained...

Re: Build thread
I miss my FD a lot, so I can sure relate to that story. Five years gone now and I still wish I hadn't had to sell it. Pretty impressive you've had yours so long. Anyway, about headlights, what about one of the Evo-R kits? Still expensive but cheaper than alternatives. Can't say if the bulbs are any ...

Out of curiosity, why did you go with Hardrace for the bushings? And which ones did you get?

Re: Saul's 1998 Integra GSR coupe
^ That. My buddy's done a couple dozen track days on his bone stock DA motor and it hasn't had a single problem. B series engines are stout. Valve lash is the only thing that might need adjustment, but it sounds like that was checked already.
