RX-8 project car?
So, since I sold my MSM, I've been looking for a project car. Several vehicles fit what I'm looking for and I've narrowed it down to a very short list: -NC Miata, MR2 Spyder or RX-8. The S2000 would be on that short list if they weren't getting so expensive! I've noticed that RX-8's have REALLY drop...

I really like it. Although I'm with Saul, I could do without the 19" wheels. If I was actually looking to buy a car like this, I would more accurately state, I could do without paying for 19" [replacement] tires! I like that Ford has finally make a car to challenge the STI/EVO/Golf R. Well it's not ...

How does the gas pedal mount to the car? I assume it is drive by wire so no cable to worry about. Would it be possible to actually raise and move the pedal to the left? I don't think so. Here's a few photos: http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b346/roninsoldier83/A3gasPedal1_zps1675d2b6.jpg http://i2...

After spending a bit of time in pain and frustration tonight, I found myself thinking about the 5+ hour mountain drives (lots of fun brake & gas work) I've had in the wife's 2013 WRX and how I don't remember having a moment of discomfort/pain. So, I started investigating differences between them wit...

I continue to squat, but for the most part the knee pain is gone. I actually dealt with it a bit today, but that was after 6hrs in the vehicle. That was in my avalanche. I'm short so long seats wouldn't help. For me, I used rest, ice massage, massage, physical therapy, and dry needling to get throu...

Ronin - Have you tried left foot braking? That might help alleviate the use of the right leg performing all those movements. It would also make you an even more badass driver too :P I actually tried it a few times, but after driving for ~16 years using my right foot for the brake, it just felt awkw...

Well, I've been studying this problem a bit more and I believe the short seats are only partially to blame, but are definitely part of the equation. There's definitely more to the equation: 1) The gas is far from the brake, both vertically and laterally. This leads to me twisting my foot at a very w...

I didn't read your post through, so I apologize if you covered this. Where is the knee pain at? I started getting knee pain when driving a while back. It is not automobile specific. I aggravated my knee with high volume, high load squatting. It still bothers me from time to time. I found that I nee...

Driving related knee pain. Ideas?
Since buying my 2015 Audi A3, I've been experiencing some significant knee pain in my right knee. I've attributed this to a couple of things in the A3: -The seat bottoms in the A3 are too short and have little in the way of thigh support. I'm not freakishly tall, but am still around 6'2” and h...

I took an NC Miata out for a spin yesterday afternoon after the weather cleared up. It was a 2006 GT package w/6MT. I'm pretty sure it had the sport package on it, but never confirmed. I liked it a lot. True story. It's certainly not fast, but it was peppy and had plenty of mid-range torque to be fu...

Do this, then sell it to me for a bargain after you get bored of it. :D http://youtu.be/qe-u7eljhO8 LOL, duly noted. :D The MR2 with a K20 swap would be a fun car, but it's a pretty pricey swap. The 2ZZ is more direct and considerably cheaper, not to mention being an OEM setup. If I picked up an MR...

Interesting you tossed the C5 in there. A C5 has always been on my list. What turned me off when I test drove one was that I had a '96 Yukon at the time, and the center stack (stereo, climate, etc) was identical to my Yukon! It was a bit weird to get out of a truck, into a sports car, and see basic...

What is your goal for the car? If it’s a weekend toy/trackcar/autox car, I’d say S2000 all day. AP1 would be cheaper, and the snap oversteer IMHO is an overrated statement. How do I know? I’ve run Shadows AP1 and it was fine. In fact I prefer that looseness – you just have to be mindful of throttle...

I voted yes although I know you would probably only keep it for 4 months, lol. Haha! :D Chris, you know me well sir. The road to keeping a car is paved with good intentions! Years ago, I managed to keep a couple cars for 2.5+ years, but they only maintained my interest so long as I was modding them...

I've purposely excluded all Porches and the FD RX-7. Not because I don't like them- in truth I love [most of] them! The cost of maintenance just bumps them off my list (irony- my daily is an Audi!). No real interest in muscle cars either. I've also excluded all FWD and AWD vehicles from this list. R...
