Well I may have spoken too soon. She's barely talking to me now, so she might be losing interest already. I won't know for sure until she gets back next week, but I'm pretty much giving up already and hoping for the opposite lol. Either way, I'm pretty bummed these days. I've definitely had my shar...

Attempting to get used to this whole welding thing. Still not pretty, but better than before. Hopefully by the end of April I'll have straighter lines, consistently spaced beads, and no craters at the end of the welds. Slowly getting there though... http://i1113.photobucket.com/albums/k503/20b_rx7/9...

I think the stitch welding of the chassis is a problem when so much heat/material is added by a poor weld job. The sheet metal near the weld looses some of its elasticity and just tears. I think that problem is more prevalent with migs and their really rigid welds too. If you do a good job with a t...

http://www.livermoreperformance.com/rx7/now/14.JPG I'm most likely going to duplicate 99% of everything done to that car except: - Full roll cage...mine will probably be a 4-point "street bar" configuration - Wing - Lexan front window - Fiberglass doors Other than those, everything else on that car...

They couldn't explain why it wouldn't start, and suggested I replace the engine. I can't believe the dealer suggested you replace the motor. That's a little excessive for a piston car and a tad lazy...but a common response given to those customers that have rotaries. Do your spark plugs smell like ...

If you ever have a big project to do and need an extra set of hands, I'd be willing to help out. I'm in the same boat. I drive a desk 8-9 hours a day, so I really like the opportunity to get my hands dirty with the car or welding. I haven't been on the mig enough recently so the welds are not as pr...

Does your new job involve welding or are you doing it as a hobby? I have gathered that lanthanated tungsten can be used more universally/easily. Kind of jealous you get to TIG a lot. I spent an hour playing with one and liked it, but not nearly enough time to get good at it. If I read closer, I wou...

I just got a new job...so haven't had much time to work on the car during winter. Although I only have a few minor changes to the car...this will probably be a long update since I haven't posted in a while. In preparation for the Halloween open lapping at PMP, I did a few things to the car: 1. Put m...

doesn't really run; I'm sorry to hear that you're still having problems with your car. Can you elaborate on your statement above? In other words, did the car run fine before (with your current setup) or did you install something new that might be the culprit? Do you have a working baseline that you...
