Re: My 1974 REPU Project

Ha. That's as good of a reason as any! I had to check out the videos.. that thing looks like it's trying to kill him every time it gets in to boost.. It's pretty awesome!! Not that you need a bug in your ear.. but I do have the machinery to build a peripheral port.. just sayin'. Even have a spare m...

Re: My 1974 REPU Project

How much power do you think you'll shoot for? Are you considering dowling or studding the motor to handle it? Right now I'm extremely fuel system limited with stock 550cc primaries and bored out 1300cc secondaries, giving me only enough fuel for a generous calculation of 400rwhp at 90-95% duty cycl...

Re: My 1974 REPU Project

So some big updates as parts are rolling in and plans are changing (imagine that!) First I got a shifter extension for the manual gearbox and shift knob. I'm not sure if I'll keep the shifter extension piece as it puts the shift knob really high but I haven't tested it out with the seats installed y...

Re: Public Service Announcement

I know Eric (Speedjunkie) was going ot attend a few years ago but could make it due a problem with his car, but the way Phil (the organizer of DGRR) handled the situation made Eric boycott it LOL. Never get Eric mad he'll never forgive you LOL

Re: SevenStock 20

Haha, you're more than welcome to join! Your car won't be able to be part of the show, but you can of course caravan with us. My REPU won't be ready to track work yet, but I'd like to hit a drag strip out there to see what it does at sea level vs here at Bandi which I'd run hopefully this summer if ...

Re: My 1974 REPU Project

I'd be willing to help with welding if you want to give it a shot. Rusty metal will need removed to fix it properly anyway. That's cool man, appreciate it! I've used a welder a few times, I just don't own one anymore. I know the rust will need to be cut out, but it might be kinda difficult as some ...

Re: Public Service Announcement

Nice! I'm starting to think I should get a 3D printer for making/designing various brackets and prototype stuff. Seems super handy. What 3D printer do you have? Pretty cool you're going to DGRR. I grew up in Western Pennsylvania so I'm accustomed to the roads out there (driven the Tail Of The Dragon...

Re: SevenStock 20

Thought I would update and put up for discussion; There are two possible routes we could take to the LA area. First is the most direct/shortest route which is over I-70 towards Vegas and then LA the second day. This route is the most direct but has the potential for the most adverse weather crossing...

Re: My 1974 REPU Project

Are you going to extend the shift lever or keep it short? An extended shift lever came in the vert.. and it was about the most unwieldy thing I ever tried to drive with. I've driven tractors that were easier to shift. I'm extending it, I think it will be too low of a reach otherwise. The stock REPU...

SevenStock 20

Most rotary guys know about this, but this is the largest rotary/Mazda car show in the world and it happens every year in Southern California around late September/Early October (Dates change). I will update this thread once we know the date. http://www.sevenstock.org/index.php Even if you're not dr...

Re: Best inexpensive boost gauge

I've always preferred mechanical boost gauges, they react much quicker than most electric gauges (especially cheaper units), are cheaper, and dead nuts reliable and accurate. I like AutoMeter but really any mechanical boost gauge is pretty darn good http://www.jegs.com/i/Auto-Meter/105/2614/10002/-1

Re: My 1974 REPU Project

Yeah, it's about 4-6 inches further back but not bad. I now need to fabricate a patch for the original shifter location as well as something to seal around the new hole I cut. I now feel like I'm in the home stretch with stuff for the truck. Just lots and lots of little things to finish. Lots of lit...

Re: My 1974 REPU Project

Had some time last night to knock out a few little projects First was I cut a hole in the floor for the new shifter location. The FD trans is longer and puts the shifter hole a couple inches further back than the stock REPU location. First, I measured and used a Sharpie to draw out a location: http:...

Re: My 1974 REPU Project

Thanks man! Spent last night fishing the Haltech wiring harness through the firewall which wasn't too difficult. I'm now waiting to find a spot to mount the Haltech relay/fuse block and the ECU itself until I cut the new hole in the floor for the shifter. With the new FD 5 speed trans the shifter is...
