1989 Mazda MX-6 GT - low miles, very unique car

A friend of a friend is selling a 1989 Mazda MX-6 GT. This is a terrific 12-valve 2.2liter turbo. It's the MX-6 two-door coupe. Remember these? http://www.motortrend.com/news/mazda-mx-6-4ws/ https://www.autoblog.com/2016/11/18/junkyard-gem-1989-mazda-mx-6-gt-turbo/ I had the four-door hatchback vers...

Damn. You'd need 395/20R17 tires and arms like Popeye!

Ah, probably the wisest thing to do is leave the Protege5 alone and buy a foolish second car.

2.2 liter 12v intercooled turbo vs 2.5 liter normally aspirated?
I'd expect the F2T to offer lots more performance, especially at our altitude.

Potentialy fun and stupid idea...

My 2002 Protege5 wagon, five-speed, is in really nice shape - a terrific basic car. Years ago, I had a 1990 626 GT with the great F2T 12V 2.2 liter turbo. Anyone know about swapping in the F2T motor and tranny into the Protege? Ideally, swap the whole thing over - engine, tranny, possibly even front...

Possible ATDS Mazda scam??

A co-worker got a letter in the mail purporting to be from "Automotive Testing and Development Services." He's got a 2010 Mazda 3. The letter says Mazda is doing "an emissions study of customer owned vehicles." If you give them your Mazda for a day to go to a dyno in Aurora and put ~80 miles on it, ...

Fuel mileage report

If anyone wants some data, I just drove my 2002 Protege5 five-speed to and from Las Vegas. The car is stock except 195/55R16 tires, slightly taller than the 195/50R16 stock size. Around town, driving mildly, I get 28-31 mpg. Drove from Boulder to Las Vegas on Monday, 10/20. Good weather, no issues. ...

I finished the job. It required a four-foot crowbar and some zircon-encrusted tweezers.

Changing low beam headlight bulb

Not sure if I'm venting or begging for help. If there's a trick, please advise... Okay, I'm wondering just what sort of pyschotically angry, anti-social, mechanic-hating, origami-champion, automotive engineer designed the low beam headlight bulb insertion/retention system in the 2002 Protege5? Or, f...

I found the one with no holes for the wipers. The other might be up in the attic, or gone. A friend might have one to give away with holes.

Please EMail me if you want to come get it. Thanks.

A looong time ago, they had a couple of ice autocrosses up there. Four car classes: FWD/AWD or RWD and with/without studs. I ran both a Miata and a 1990 626 GT (fwd turbo), without studs. Took a long time to do the course, but fun as hell. One time was incredibly windy but fairly warm, so really sli...

Free - 84-85 Rx-7 rear hatch glass

I've got two rear glass hatches for the first gen Rx-7, specifically 84 and 85. One is for base models, the other is for the GSL and GSL-SE and has the holes for the rear window wipers. Free! Please let me know asap if you want them or I'm tossing them this week. In Boulder. Thanks, and happy motori...

Wanted - Protege5 wheels

Looking for a set of wheels to fit my 2002 Protege5. 5x4.5inch bolt pattern, same as 5x114.3mm. 16x6inch, but width can vary.
Don't have to be stock. Open to options and suggestions. Thanks!!

He was probably too intimidated by the Rx-7 and just plain scared of the Ford!
